About Norm Thibault
Dr. Norm Thibault (T-Bo) was one of the first clinicians to work with At the Crossroads at its inception. He handled the clinical responsibilities while founder Brian Virgin handled all other aspects of the program. The team developed a model that valued each student and their agency, while providing a supportive platform for support in mental health, independent living skills, and executive functioning. These philosophical underpinnings continue to guide treatment and mentorship in At the Crossroads today.
Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, with degrees in Family and Human Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Counseling Psychology, Dr. Thibault has been involved with various forms of residential treatment throughout his career.

He is a former two-term President of the Utah Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. He was also a contributor to the current DSM-V, published by the American Psychiatric Association, as a Field Trial Clinician.
Dr. Thibault was the Lead Faculty and the Area Chair for the CACREP-accredited University of Phoenix Master’s Degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in St. George.
Areas of Expertise
For ten years, Dr. Thibault co-founded and operated Three Points Center and Three Points Center North Carolina, which were pioneering treatment centers exclusively for adopted adolescents.
Dr. Thibault recently completed his second term as President of the Board of Directors of the Association for Training and Trauma in the Attachment of Children (ATTACh.org), an international organization for training clinicians, professionals, and parents in working with attachment and trauma. He remains an advisor to the board. In 2025 he was given the ATTACh Leadership Award for “recognition of [his] unwavering commitment in advocating for children and for nine years of leadership and service on the ATTACh Board of Directors.”
He recently authored/co-authored four chapters of the book, “Healing Connections: A Community Approach to Childhood Trauma and Attachment” published in 2024.

Norm & John Gottman
Dr. Thibault is the recipient of the 2017 Vilardi Humanitarian Award of the American Adoption Congress given “in honor of [his] dedication and caring commitment to education and healing in the world of adoption.”
Dr. Thibault trained with world-renowned psychologist Dr. John Gottman in Seattle and was instrumental in bringing him to Utah to train therapists in 2012.
In 2024, Dr. Thibault co-presented with Dr. Stephen Porges, the founder of Polyvagal Theory, on how epigenetics, trauma, and attachment are addressed through Polyvagal Theory.
Dr. Thibault has served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs, (NATSAP) as well as a member of the Utah Executive Committee of NATSAP. NATSAP is an organization devoted to increasing standards of care in treatment and At the Crossroads is a long-term member.
Dr. Thibault is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. He is a Certified Clinical Trainer of Attachment and Trauma-Focused Therapy and has presented to numerous organizations across many states. He and his wife, Meg, are the parents of three children (two with spouses), and three grandchildren.
